Interview– Mary Deyampart McCall (part 1)

 

Lisa C. Williams hosts a stimulating conversation with Mary Deyampart McCall about being raised in lower Alabama, witnessing the burned body of a lynched Black man, matriculating at Tuskegee Institute and finding her purpose.  Mrs. Deyampart McCall gave more than 50 years of her life serving children and their families in North Carolina and received an historic appointment as the state’s first African American director of social services.  She shares information about her philanthropic work, which includes establishing an academic scholarship at Methodist University for students majoring in social work.
